Both program sites, Roslindale and Brighton, offer culturally and linguistically appropriate services for Russian-speaking elders. The Brighton program is fully staffed with Russian-speaking personnel. In May 2010, the Roslindale program will launch additional program days on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Adult Day Medical Health and Parkinson's Disease Program is staffed by a registered nurse, activities coordinator, program assistant, and social services consultants. The program is designed to meet the needs of functionally impaired adults. The programs enrich the lives of all who attend and provide the needed socialization, easing loneliness and curtailing depression. They allow elders to remain at home and provide caregivers time for work, respite, and peace of mind. Kosher meals are available upon request. The Drive Safe program within the Rehabilitation Service Department is designed for adults who are experiencing functional change due to medical conditions, trauma, surgery, neurological incidents, or aging. The Evaluation includes a comprehensive assessment of the visual, perceptual, cognitive, and physical skills necessary for driving as well as knowledge of the rules of the road and driving safety. This service is for medical rides only. The person must be on SSI and not capable of taking the MBTA. To receive this service the doctor must fill a PT-1 form and send it to the local Medicaid office. This entitles the person to 10 round trips. Each individual doctor the person needs to see must fill their own PT-1 form. Call at least two days in advance. Call after 3 p.m. the day before to confirm ride and find out time of pick up.

Several Senior Shuttles are wheelchair accessible. The Senior Shuttle provides curb to curb service to your destination and return home. Priority is given to seniors needing transportation for medical appointments, then food shopping groups, and lastly, social or recreational activities. This service provides non-emergency, both chair and ambulatory, rides for medical appointments, adult day health, dialysis, and hospital discharges. The service area includes Greater Boston, South Shore, North Shore, and Metrowest and three business days are requested for scheduling. Prices for an independent ambulatory ride is $17.50 one way ($0.11/mile). For a wheelchair, the price is $25 one way ($2.50/mile). If more than two stairs are in building, Med-Ride offers carry up/down chair which is $25 extra. Escorts are allowed.

THE RIDE is the MBTA's Paratransit program, which provides door-to door transportation to eligible people who cannot use general public transportation (subways, buses, and trains), all or some of the time, because of a physical, cognitive, or mental disability. THE RIDE is operated in compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is a shared-ride service, which means you are traveling with other people. Lift equipped vans are used to serve persons with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs and scooters. THE RIDE operates 365 days a year from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. in 62 cities and towns. You can view THE RIDE service area map of cities and towns. The local one-way fare for each registered passenger is currently $1.50 or $3.00, while longer trips may, in a few instances, cost $4.50. If you are traveling with a Personal Care Assistant, the PCA is not charged a fee. THE RIDE is also available to ADA certified out-of-area and/or out-of-state travelers visiting the area. Some documentation is required. Visitors are urged to make arrangements in advance.
In order to use THE RIDE you must complete an application and become eligible. Per ADA regulations, 21 days is allowed to process applications upon receipt. Only completed, signed original applications, mailed to the address below, will be considered for review. You will receive written notification of eligibility via US mail.
